Our History:
Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada (“CCEC”) has been Canada’s network of Chamber professionals since 1967!
Until 2002, CCEC was completely led by volunteers - Chamber leaders committed to strengthening the Chamber Network and developing the Chamber profession by organizing professional development opportunities. In 2002, with the support of our first-ever Executive Director, Shelley Morris, CCEC was relaunched with a membership of 80 Executives from across Canada.
Over the years, we've introduced new resources and services to support the professional effectiveness of Chamber staff.
In 2023, CCEC entered a new partnership with Johnston Group - Johnston Group assumed responsibility for the management of CCEC and will provide a contracted Executive Director. Without a management expense, CCEC will offer free memberships to all Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce who employ at least 1 part-time staff person. CCEC continues to be governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and will set its own strategic plan, budget, and policies.
This partnership led to increased capacity at CCEC, allowing us to create the Chamber Federation - a collaborative model providing greater support to the provincial professional development associations.
In 2024, CCEC and the members of the Chamber Federation launched a unified visual brand:
