About Us

The E&N Rail, The Empress, shipbuilding in the region, ferry service both to the mainland and to Washington State, the airport, the first parking garage in the city and the University of Victoria. These are just a few of things that chamber members have fought to get built or changed over the many years of building good business in the region.
Established in 1863, the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce has played a significant role in the success of Greater Victoria ever since. Over the years, The Chamber has initiated or been involved with establishing the South Island Film Commission, South Island Prosperity Project, VIATEC, Tourism Victoria and the whimsical Flower Count.
Today, with over 1,300 members, the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce is one of the five largest chambers in the Province. Our membership reflects the diversity of the business community. We represent the interests of small, medium and large businesses across all sectors as well as members from the not-for-profit sector. Reflective of the character of businesses in Greater Victoria, approximately 80% of our membership is made up of small businesses with 25 employees or less.
